Week 1, Day 5

1) Lose 10 pounds - Yesterday started off good, but my shabbos challah killed me :(  Not to toot my own horn, buuuuuuut my challah is pretty darn good.  The problem is my recipe makes 4 loaves and I generally eat all 4 loaves over the weekend without much help from Lawrence or the kids.  Friday night alone, I pretty much ate at least 1/2 loaf by myself.  The challahs run about 22 points each, so there are my points for the day :(  Somehow at the end of the day I ended up with 28 food points which in my opinion means I must have mis-added or forgotten something. Mostly I say this because the scale went a little UP today... bummer.
What I ate:
   B: 2 coffees (1), 1/2 cup FF yogurt w/blueberries & strawberries (2.5)
   S: Banana (0)
   L: 3 chicken nuggets (4.5), 2 bites of challah, handful of blueberries (0), 1/4 hot dog (1)
   D: Chicken breast (3), thigh (3), & wing (3), lots of steamed veggies (0)
   S: 1/2 challah!!!  (11)

2) Diastasis class - I was a big loser today and missed my last set of reps for the day.  I'm not sure how it got away from me, but it did.  On the brighter side, I'm doing a much better job of keeping my abs pulled in and getting even better at remembering to be aware of my movements :)  Even thought it's only day 5, I can already feel the connective tissue starting to fuse and when I do something I'm not supposed to, I can feel it pull apart and it hurts!

3) Exercise - I DID IT!  I took a 2 1/2 mile power walk.  I felt like one of those old ladies swinging my arms high, swishing my butt back and forth and walking as fast as I can, but it felt great!  Under the diastasis training, I'm not supposed to run until the separation heals, but I definitely worked up a little sweat with my walk which was nice.

4) Get Ari in bed and asleep by 9pm - Ari was bathed, booked and in bed by 9, but last night he was definitely testing us.  He got out of bed the first time very soon after lights out and I put him back. Around 9:40, I had just about figured he had finally fallen asleep, when he snuck up right behind us!  I put him back again and this time he stayed there.  On one hand it's annoying that he got out of bed twice, but a few weeks ago, what would was either 1) he would get out of bed 10 times or 2) I would have given up and let him hang out with us until it was time to go to sleep.  Even though the second time he came down it was late, at least Lawrence and I got to spend some time together.

5) Get Lilah to FINALLY sleep through the night - Finally a step in the right direction last night.  In accordance with my entry yesterday, I went back to my original plan from Suzanne Hanson @ Ruby Sky and decided to do a dream feed at 11pm and then not nurse until 4:30am.  She did wake up at 1:30am, but I stayed strong and instead of nursing her I gave my little shpiel and walked away.  She complained for about an hour, but it wasn't screaming or crying... it was really more of a 'voicing of her objection' and she eventually went back to sleep and I got to stay in my bed.  I nursed again at 4:30, then put her back in the crib where she stayed until 7am!  If she would give a repeat performance tonight without the 1:30am waking, I will be very happy.

6) Wean Lilah - Yesterday I still nursed Lilah 6 times, but they were mostly during the day which I consider a triumph.  Nursing times were 7:15am, 1:30pm, 6pm, 7:30pm (bedtime), 11pm (dreamfeed), and 4:30.  So really it was only 1 middle of the night feeding which I think is a great improvement!

All in all, not a bad day.  I need to get back on track for my diet.... as usual, I did a great job for the first few days and then started losing focus..... I NEED FOCUS!!!!  Gotta drop this weight!  I also really hope Lilah makes a repeat performance for tomorrow night when it comes to her sleeping :)  I think there's some real progress happening.

Today is day 5, and while I see some real progress happening, my hope is that by the start of week 2, I will have lost 1.5 lbs, be remembering to do my diastasis exercises EVERY day, Ari will only be getting out of bed once after 9pm (and swiftly put back in), Lilah will only be waking in the night once, and she will only be nursing 5x a day with only one of those times at night.  Let's see what we can do in two days!!!!
