Week 2, Day 3 - Breakthroughs On All Fronts

Was that really only 2 days ago I was so frustrated I wanted to quit?  Was it only 2 days ago Lilah was up nursing all night, I had gained 1/2 pound, I forgot to do one of my Diastasis classes and Ari was up until 10:30 again?

It certainly was only 2 short days ago, but for the first time I did great in all categories and it fills me with hope that I might actually succeed :)  It almost seems silly to me that these mole hills are such a mountains for me, but I know I'm not alone.

1) Lose 10 pounds - I don't know if it was my neglect of carbs (thanks Rachael) or that I was so busy running around with errands yesterday, but I'm 2 pounds down!!  I know 2 pounds isn't really anything to write home about and if I eat a single grain of salt with dinner tonight, those 2 pounds will be right back on my thighs, but it felt good to see 161 on the scale and know the 150's are just 1.1 pounds away :)  But even more than that.... I really tried yesterday and saw an immediate result.  Last night I skipped the spaghetti in favor of 1/2 a plate of steamed veggies and a salad with fat free dressing.  Then when I was hungry an hour later, I opted for frozen peaches instead of popcorn.  (I find eating frozen fruit for a snack makes the eating process take longer thereby curbing my incessant need to nosh).

2) Diastasis class - I really didn't want to do the last set and I really didn't feel like wearing the splint all night, but I did both.  I know it's silly because these exercises only take about 2 1/2 minutes for each rep and I have to do 5 reps a day, but at the end of the day I'm really proud of myself for remembering to do it and following through.

3) Exercise - Went to the Zoo!  I spent about 2 hours at the zoo with my friend Marie yesterday and not only was it incredibly hot (for Portland standards), but before leaving, we went all the way to the Giraffes which was the lowest and most farthest point away from the exit so we had to book it all the way up the hill in the really hot heat in order to get back to the car.  I was literally sweating from pushing my 30 pound Graco travel system stroller up that gigantic hill :)

4) Get Ari in bed and asleep by 9pm - Ari skipped his bath yesterday, but was still in pajamas and in bed by 8:40 for story time.  We read until 9:05, then a kiss and goodnight.  Lawrence went up to say goodnight and Ari had to pee, but after a quick trip to the bathroom, Ari was back in bed by 9:10.  I don't know if he fell asleep right away, but he stayed in bed and was asleep by the time we went to bed at 10pm :)

5) Get Lilah to FINALLY sleep through the night - Lilah did great last night.  She was in bed by 7:30 and asleep by 8pm.  She woke up briefly at 12:10, but I told her to go back to bed and she did!  She woke again at 2:40 and I nursed her for 10 minutes and she went back to sleep until 6am!!!  Like I had planned, yesterday I purchased some blackout curtains which I think helped her to sleep until 6am.  :)

6) Wean Lilah - I finally got down to 5 nursings yesterday: 6:30am, 8am, 12:30, 7pm and 2:40am.  It feels like a real achievement to especially only have 1 nursing in the middle of the night.   Yesterday I made sure to give Lilah several cups of milk and it really helped.  On a side note, today (week 2 day 4) I've only nursed Lilah once!!!  I literally went from 2:40am to 1:40pm without nursing her.  The interesting thing is that I wasn't at all engorged which confirms my suspicions that I have very low milk supply and Lilah is mostly nursing for comfort.

All and all a good day on the challenge list.  Now I'm interested to see about tomorrow :)
